Connor is getting too big!!!

Well, it's official- my 4 year old can now ride a 2 wheel bike! He tried about 6 months ago and did pretty well but today he told Jon that he wanted to ride.... and he did! Sometimes it's so hard to believe that he is growing up so fast!!!

Our little Ballerina!

Meghan had her Christmas recital last Saturday night. She was a present for one of her dances and did a dance to Jingle Bells for the other. She had a really good time dancing and so far wants to continue. She gets to perform at Disney World in March and we are taking the whole family- I have never been and I think I'm more excited than the kids!!

Feliz Mommy Da~

At least that's how Connor interprets the song- listen for yourself:

Of course, Meghan couldn't stand it so she had to sing it right- so you actually get both versions!! And then there's Trevor- oh the joys of a Christmas carol from a 3rd grader!! Enjoy!!

Snow in Mississippi!

Well, we had snow today. Not in Clinton, however! I drove the kids about 50 miles south and let them play for a little while in the snow-- I did it on spur of the moment though so we definitely weren't dressed for it! They had a great time, though! Trevor and Meghan really liked throwing snowballs and Connor enjoyed stomping around in it. Kyle just enjoyed teasing his brothers and making them step through the icy puddles and thereby getting their shoes, pants, and legs all wet! They all liked throwing the snowballs at the car and seeing them explode on the windows! It didn't take long for them to get cold so we only played about 30 minutes but I sure smiled a lot just watching them!!

Once they all got inside the car we took off ALL the wet clothes and shoes- Connor was a little upset that he had to ride home in his underwear but he was wet up to his knees!! It was really a great day!

Ready for the Holidays

Well we got the tree up and the outside of the house decorated- we are just full of Holiday cheer!.... of course, I have yet to buy presents and am a little stressed about that -- but welcome to the Holidays, right?!?We have been busy around here. We went to my parents house in South Carolina for Thanksgiving and had a great time. My cousins were there whom I haven't seen in a couple of years so I really enjoyed that!

The kids are ready for Christmas break and so am I! The next couple of weeks will be hectic! Meghan has her Christmas show next weekend, Trevor has Boys Scouts and karate with parties for both, and Connor has his school party and gift exchange. Kyle is doing well- unsure whether he is going to California for Christmas but we will love having him here if he doesn't!

Amanda is 21!!

Well, it's hard to believe that I have a 21 year old daughter-- she can legally drink and gamble, my lord, I must be getting old! Her and Dennis came to Mississippi and spent a couple of days in Biloxi so I got to have the baby all to myself. I loved every minute of it- but I was sure worried about him for a couple of days as he was very sick. My first day with him, Jon and I took him to the doctor because he was having such a hard time breathing! He had an inhaler and he was definitely on the mend by the time they headed home.
It's hard to believe how much Dylan has changed since I left South Carolina two months ago!! He is so big and happy- he smiles a lot and I literally could hold him all day! He is a very good baby and Amanda is so good with him- I'm so proud of the woman that she is growing in to!!

Amanda and her family headed home today after Connor's PowWow at school. He was so excited that they got to come watch him sing his songs!

I think they had a good time and I think it was good for Amanda and Dennis to have a couple of days to themselves!

Halloween

The kids carved their pumpkins and had a great time. Connor would not put his hands in to get the seeds out so I had to do it for him. I put his hand inside the pumpkin and he said it was gross. He did enjoy cutting it out. Trevor went high tech this year and carved the pumpkin above- 3 wolves howling at the moon. There were tiny little lines to cut but he did a great job- just a little help from mom!

Halloween was a lot of fun this year. The City of Clinton decided that Halloween should be on the 30th so we trick-or-treated a day early. The kids had a lot of fun dressing up. Meghan was Ariel so we colored her hair red- it took 4 cans of red spray and I was really nervous that it would not wash out but it did!! Yay!!! Several people asked if she was wearing a wig and couldn't believe it when we said no.
Trevor was a fighter pilot- his favorite part of the costume was the shades!! I think he just wanted to race and see how much candy he could get. Connor was a Clone Trooper but everytime we went to the store he would see a different costume and tell me he changed his mind. Even Kyle decided he wanted to trick or treat (well, actually he just wanted candy) and his friends helped him dress up as a mummy.

Kyle even went to a couple of houses to trick-or-treat but stopped when he realized he was leaving a trail of toilet paper everywhere!

My great idea....

So, over the weekend I came up with the brilliant idea of taking the family to the haunted house-- it seemed like a good idea at the time!! We all waited in line, Meghan had decided that she was not going to go in but Trevor and Connor were so excited! When we got to the front of the line Meghan changed her mind and decided that as long as Jon held her she would go through. We weren't 30 feet in the door when I screamed for the 1st time and it was downhill from there! Trevor did fine until the chain saw lady fired up the saw and that was the end of Trevor! He spent the rest of the time crying and screaming "No more scary stuff! No more scary stuff!" I tried to help him and told him to just remember that it was all fake and he said, "I know it is but it's scary!" When we finally got to the end and exited Connor said, "Mama I don't never want to come here again." Luckily, no one had nightmares but I think we might skip the haunted house next year-- although I thought it was one of the best that I've ever been to!

Meghan's Dance & Trevor's Karate

Well, it was visitor's week at dance so I got to see everything that Meghan's been learning in all of her classes. She really enjoyed showing me everything and I think she got a little distracted with me sitting there!!

She's really busy in dance and taking 3 classes- ballet, tap, and jazz. She is also in the Performance Company at her dance studio-- never a dull moment! Her dance teacher, Miss Allison has let me do some work at the studio in exchange for Meghan's dancing so that has been a big help and allowed Meghan to take more classes than she otherwise might have been able to.

Trevor tested for his Senior Orange Belt and passed the test- he was so excited to get his new belt!! He goes to karate 3-4 times a week and really seems to enjoy it! He's really learned a lot which has been nice!

Connor

Well, Kyle bought some color for his hair- the temporary spray in kind- so that he could color his hair red for a rally they were having at school. Kyle decided he would try it out on Connor's hair first- in case it was too pink. This is what Connor had to say about his new hair color:

The Zoo

Connor's class went to the zoo in Jackson and he really enjoyed seeing all the animals. He liked the monkey that was swinging from the top of the cage by his tail- he thought that was really cool! He also liked seeing the elephants- and one of them even got really close-- close enough that I was making sure there was a fence to stop him (or her!)

I think most of all he liked playing on the little playground that they have there. Well, that, and the fact that he got to ride the bus!

The Pumpkin Patch

Well we took the kids to the pumpkin patch and we all had a great time. We took a hayride and saw a zedonk-- I didn't even know there was such a thing. The hayride took us back in the fields to the pumpkin patch and we all (yes I said ALL) got to pick a pumpkin- so now we have 6 pumpkins to carve!!

Back by the pumpkin patch there were rope swings set up and the kids had a lot of fun. There was also a mountain made of hay bales and the boys all had fun playing "King of the Mountain"- but Meghan just preferred to swing. She tends to stay away from things that could cause her to get hurt!! =)

We all had a lot of fun and are looking forward to carving our pumpkins!!

Busy Lives!!

Kyle went last week and got his regular driver's license- now there are no time restrictions on when he can drive- at least no restriction from the state! He's pretty excited and he got to drive to the football game last weekend in a neighboring town and did not have to worry about being home by 10!

Trevor is so excited as he passed his test for all 4 stripes on his orange belt in karate. He really worked hard to know the moves (his form) and was very proud. He goes this weekend on his first boy scout camping trip- just him and Jon. I think they are both pretty excited and are trying to come up with their menu.

Meghan has been home for 2 days with strep throat so life around here has been pretty crazy. She hasn't felt well so she has been following at my heels for 2 days- I think her and I are both anxious for her to go back to school tomorrow.

Connor has gotten back into school fairly easily after our 2 weeks in South Carolina. He seems to really enjoy it although he does get time outs pretty often- it's usually the first thing he says to me when he gets in the car after school- "mom, I got no time outs" or however many he actually got!

Monday, September 22, 2008

Well, it's official- Jon and I are grandparents. Dylan Carter Mitchell was born on September 5, 2008 and weighed a whopping 10 pounds! He and Amanda are both doing great and he really is the sweetest baby!

Other than that it is business as usual at the Scribner house! The kids are all back in school and Meghan is back in dance. Trevor is taking karate and really loves it so we are constantly running!

Summer Officially Ends!

Well, the kids all started school again. Kyle is a junior in high school, Trevor is in 3rd grade and Meghan is in 1st grade. Connor will go to preschool again but they don't start until the 21st. They all seem to like their teachers- I think Kyle only had one that he wasn't too happy with. Trevor and Meghan both really like their teachers- they got the teachers that I requested so I was happy as well.

Connor and I have been entertaining each other- he just always wants me to sit and "watch a show" with him- I can only take so much Dora!!

Trevor is going to start taking karate and Meghan will start back to dance next week. Busy, busy! I will try to put some new pics up soon!

The Funny Things Kids Say

So, I've always said I was going to start one of these and now I guess it's time. We have been busy around the Scribner house- trying to get the yard cleaned up and I've started a few painting projects.

The kids are all growing so fast and every day they say things that make me laugh. They are definitely a constant source of entertainment. Yesterday we were in Wal Mart (we visit there frequently!!) and Connor looked at me and said, "MaMa- we need to go to the toy aisle before I get attitude!" It was absolutely hysterical and he was just so serious!!

Well, that's all for now!
