SNOW!!

Well, we've lived in Mississippi now for 3 years and this is the second time we've seen snow!! Of course, my dear Cali/Nevada friends, to us here in MS it's snow-- to y'all it's just a mild dusting!! The boys had so much fun playing in it and thoroughly enjoyed putting their freezing cold hands and my face!!

I'm Back!! =)

Okay- well it has obviously been awhile and I am aiming to really get better about posting on here! I really enjoy it-- and have the best intentions, however, sometimes it just doesn't work. So hang tight-- there will be more!!

Connor's Program

On Thursday Connor had his end of the year program at preschool and since he's 4 he got his preschool diploma.  They sang several songs while on stage and, even the songs he wasn't sure of the words, he sang with all his heart!  As they got on the stage Jon looked at me and said, "I hope he doesn't fall off" and not 2 seconds later he fell down-- luckily he stayed on the stage!  He bowed between songs and had fun-- which is really all that mattered

Puppies

Well, for those who haven't heard, our Yorkshire Terrier, Lucy, had puppies on April 16.  She had 2 males.  I'm sure Jon had a good laugh at work when I called him out of the blue completely freaking out.  Here's the story-- we had started to realize that Lucy was pregnant but I was unaware (completely) that she was due.  I was cleaning carpets getting ready for my parents and Amanda to visit.  I stopped to put potatoes in the crock pot for dinner when I suddenly heard this loud whining sound.  I went to search it out and saw Lucy at the back door with a puppy in her mouth!!  I let her in and she ran to my room (after running through 2 rooms of freshly cleaned carpets).  I called Jon at work completely panicked that she had the puppy outside and convinces that there was probably another somewhere and I couldn't find it.  Jon thought I was crazy so I called my friend Liz who lives down the street and she came over and, luckily, their granddad is a vet so she called him and everything was fine!  Turns out, she did have another but she had him inside.  They are very cute and now have their eyes open.

Trevor's Birthday

Well, we had to have Trevor's birthday 2 weekends after the actual day due to dance recital BUT he had a GREAT time! He chose to go to the skating rink here in town and he just loved it.  It was a private party so the only ones in the whole place were there for him.  He invited his friends and about 16 of them showed up (including Meghan and Connor.)  They got to skate for 1.5 hours and he opened presents and my friend, Michelle, made his birthday cake and it was delicious!  Overall he had a great time and I tried to hide my tears as I had to realize he is growing up-- Still can't believe he is 9!!

Mississippi Ballet Theatre Recital 2009

This weekend was Meghan's dance recital and this year even Connor participated! Meghan had several costume changes and even ventured a solo this year! Connor was a train conductor and danced to Thomas the Train-- he really did a great job. He was a little overwhelmed by the bright lights and stopped his dance to look up at the lights! They both really did a good job and we were so proud!!

Meghan and Jon even got to dance the father/daughter dance again this year. She really loved it and although I don't think Jon necessarily liked being on the stage I think he genuinely enjoyed dance with Meghan.

Dylan's Visit

My parents, Amanda and Dylan all came this past weekend to see Meghan and Connor in their dance recital and to celebrate Trevor's birthday. It was a good visit- even though I don't think they are quite used to the chaos that is our house!! We were all just amazed at how big Dylan is getting and how happy a baby he is! He is so sweet and hardly cries-- although he does like to scream!! He is really trying to crawl and I don't suspect it will be long before he figures it out!!

Easter

We had a really great Easter Sunday and hope all of our friends did as well. We dyed eggs, the Eater Bunny came (of course) and hid 42 candy filled eggs in our backyard while we were sleeping-- he even spilled some while he was jumping and left some candy on the grass. Connor wanted to know if I thought he hopped up high and hid eggs in the rain gutter-- I convinced him it wasn't likely! Kyle then hid all of the colored eggs for the kids to find and we made sugar cookie cutouts-- complete with a Xmas tree and a bat! We ended the day on the front porch watching the kids play with cars in the gutter of the street because it had rained so hard that the water was rolling!! What a day!

Connor's Olympics

Each year at Connor's preschool they have the Olympics- with opening and closing ceremonies! They each get a medal and it really is a fun day for the kids. Connor had a blast and loved getting his medal. They do all sorts of events- limbo, balance beam walking, horse races, basketball, etc. It was a lot of fun watching him!

Disney Part II

Well, it's been a while since I have updated my blog- life has been crazy busy since we got back from Disney World. Between all three of the younger ones playing ball, Trevor's karate and Boy Scouts, and Meghan's dance I feel like I spend most days running around like a chicken with my head cut off!I obviously can't put everything about Disney on this page- it would take up way too much room- but Meghan wanted me to put her princess pics up. We (just her and I) had lunch with the princesses at Epcot and she trully loved it. There were 5 princesses total and they each came to our table and said Hello to her and posed for pictures. Her favorite, as usual, was Cinderella.

Disney!

Well, our first ever week at Disney World is coming to a close and we are headed home tomorrow! Disney World was everything we hoped it would be..... and more! We have truly had the time of our lives and can't wait to come back. I think everyone had a different "favorite" but we all had a great time! Meghan tried some new rides- she even rode the "Tower of Terror" and said she really liked it but that she didn't want to ride it again. Trevor rode his first ever upside down roller coaster- "Rockin Roller Coaster" and liked it so much that he rode it again. Kyle got to see a stunt show that was really cool and Connor got to meet several of his favorite character- most notably Buzz Lightyear and Woody.
Disney really is a dream come true- and even a week was not long enough to see everything! Oh well, even a better reason to come back! =-)

Trevor's Accent Play

Trevor has remarkably not come down with the flu- thank goodness- as his Accent (the Clinton schools gifted program) play was Wed. He came home from school every day this week telling Connor and Meghan to stay away from him because he could not get sick! The play was about inventions and using your brain- he did really well and had a great time! I wasn't able to go since the kids were home with the flu but thankfully Jon was able to leave work and go watch- which made Trevor's day. Trevor's teacher met Jon at the door and told him Trevor had already asked about him twice! Jon came home and wondered how she knew he was Trevor's dad- I laughed and told him that Trevor is his "mini-me" so I'm sure she didn't have any trouble!

Flu for 2, anyone??

Well it has definitely been a long week- Meghan had a positive flu test on Monday and Connor had a positive flu test on Tuesday. They have both been in the house all week and are about to lose their minds-- which of course means I'm about to lose mine!! It's amusing to watch them because I could literally watch them and know their temp was going up-- they would be active and then slowly but surely they would end up lying on the couch-- time for Motrin- and then the entire cycle would start over! Tamiflu seems to be working and they both seem to be getting better- maybe next week everyone can go back to school just in time for Disney World and Spring Break!

Snow?? At our house??

Well not sure you can fully call it snow-- maybe just white dust-- but it was here just the same. It was 75 degrees on Friday, 40 on Saturday, and the lovely white dust was here when we woke up Sunday morning! The weather here is crazy!!

Dylan

It's amazing to me that Dylan is 5 months old!! It seems like just yesterday that I was watching him be born and watching my daughter in amazement as she experienced a moment unlike any other!! It reminded me so much of when she was born and yet, at the same time, reminded me that she has grown up! She is such a great mommy and Dylan is such a happy little guy! I only wish they were closer-- I feel as though I'm missing way too much- and they are definitely only little once!

Father/Daughter Dance

Jon and Meghan went to a Father/Daughter Valentine's dance tonight and had a really good time. The dance studio put it on and there were decorations, food, and quite a few people. Meghan had a really great time and really enjoyed dancing with her daddy!!

Meghan really enjoyed dressing up in her new dress and her "high heels!" She got new earrings and a birthstone necklace and I'm pretty sure she was feeling like a princess by the time they left the house.

Way to Go Trevor!!

Trevor tested last week for his green belt and found out tonight that he passed!! We are so proud of him! He got a little nervous because they accidentally passed over him and moved on to the next level- they had gotten a little messed up didn't have it quite right. I asked Trevor when it was over whether he was nervous and he said, "Yeah mom- I even started to sweat a little!!" I was waiting for the tears when they first didn't call his name but he did good and didn't cry! Turned out he got his belt- they just had him in the wrong file.

Mudder??

Well, I've decided that, although there are plenty of positives with having kids spread out over the years, there are definitely some negatives as well-- well, actually, there's pretty much only 1 thing that I've found to be a huge negative---- ATTITUDE!!

Connor was irritating Meghan yesterday and i asked him to stop... of course, he kept on doing it and so she starts screaming even louder..... well, I finally said, "Connor Gordon, did you hear me?" He so politely looked at me and said, "Yes, I hear you. I hear you, mudder."

Oh, the joys of kids...............

Clinton Third Graders Present...............

Trevor had his 3d grade play today and he really did a great job! His class and 1 or 2 others did a play about saving the Rain Forest and they really did a fabulous job! It was really obvious that a lot of time and effort when into this play which was refreshing to see in the public school system!

I'm going to post a video of the play too- it's one of Trevor's parts. The video also shows the backs of several heads as I was videoing and trying to corral Connor at the same time.

A Beautiful Day at the Park

Yesterday was the most gorgeous day that we have had here in Mississippi in a while. We planted a couple of trees in the yard, a rose bush in the flower bed, and then decided to take the kids for a picnic at the park.

It's hard to believe sometimes that they are growing up so fast. Watching them play at the park, with Connor climbing everywhere that he probably shouldn't have, Jon looked at him at one point while he was climbing up a curved ladder and said, "I remember when you were too scared to climb this ladder and now look!" Sadly, I remember as well, and now he's not scared of climbing anything-- although he sure scares me!

Skating for 6!!

Jon and I have both tried to come up with the correct amount of time that has passed since either one of us have been on roller skates.... I don't believe either one of us was successful! I know that it's been at least 11 years because that's how long we've been together and we've just never thought to go skating.

Well our good friends invited us to a birthday party for their youngest daughter, Sarah Beth, and it was at the skating rink here in town. Jon and I, for whatever strange reason, decided that we would skate too! And, amazingly enough, we never even fell-- not once! The kids had so much fun- it was Trevor, Meghan, and Connor's first time skating so they spent a lot of time hanging on to the wall- and Trevor spent a lot of time on the floor, but they are all anxious to go again! Connor had his skate wheels tightened up some and so he ran a lot-- which of course made me a nervous wreck! We all had a really great time and are looking forward to Trevor's birthday which he decided was going to be there as well!

The Monster Trucks

Well, we went to the Monster Truck show in Jackson on the 18th of January and the kids had a great time! The show is definitely not as big as the one we used to go to in San Antonio but the kids still enjoyed it! They had moto-cross jumpers jumping these huge ramps and the kids thought that was really neat-- all I could think was that I was so happy that my kids don't do those things because, as a mom, that would scare me to death!

Kyle's girlfried, Sarah, went with us to the Monster Trucks. I think she had a good time!

Picture Tag

Okay, thanks Laura! I guess I've been "tagged" which means, I believe, that I have to go to the 4th folder on my computer and pick the 4th picture and post it........
To explain this picture without going into all of the dirty details-- this is all of our stuff that was left outside when our old apartment managers decided we were taking to long to move out of the model apartment that we were staying in post fire.
That being said-- Denise, you're it!!
